Updates on Hurricane Dorian

Most recent update: Friday, August 30, 2019

VSPC is tracking Hurricane Dorian and has been in regular communication with Pinellas County’s Emergency Management Team and VISIT FLORIDA about the storm's potential effect on the county and state, respectively.

VSPC has developed a turnkey accommodations portal to promote availability of hotel inventory for distressed travelers. We are holding off on activating the portal until Dorian's path is more clear and we have a better estimate on how our area will be impacted. If a decision is made to go live, we will notify partners immediately and ask for room inventory to be updated for those looking for shelter.

Currently, Pinellas County remains in the five-day cone for Dorian, but the forecast is showing the storm turning north rather than cutting across the state.

The Pinellas County Emergency Operations Center has been activated and the Pinellas County’s Citizen Information Center (CIC) is still open for preparedness questions at 727-464-4333 between 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. At this time, the county is sharing pertinent information through social media using #PinellasDorian.
