Local Updates

On Monday, the Pinellas County Commission ratified local emergency orders through Friday.

The Board will have its next meeting Thursday where they will get an update onthe County's COVID-19 response, include an update on local cases, beach closures and community response to the Safer at Home orders.

Also Monday, Hillsborough County's Emergency Policy Group voted 5-3 to implement a 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly curfew, which goes into effect tonight.

National Travel & Tourism Week

Now more than ever, the travel and tourism community must come together, support each other and remind our community that even through the most difficult times, the Spirit of Travel cannot be broken. That’s why U.S. Travel’s National Travel & Tourism Week will go on May 3-9 with its new moniker, Spirit of Travel. Stay tuned for Visit St. Pete/Clearwater’s ideas for bringing this effort to life virtually.

Traveler Trends

Tracking consumer behavior during this time and into the future will help provide an early signal of returning travel activity and that will help inform on when to re-deploy marketing efforts. Two great tools for larger traveler trends are from Arrivalist and Adara. Arrivalist’s Daily Travel Index shows car travel while Adara’s Traveler Trends Tracker shows real-time travel data related to air and hotel bookings.

Skift Launches Summit Series

Skift, travel and tourism’s leading news source, is launching a series of online summits called Travel’s Path Forward. The series launches at noon Tuesday with Startups & Investors Online Summit and continues for more than a month featuring topics, including travel PR, loyalty programs, short-term rentals, hotels, travel advisors and more. Registration is required and Skift is asking for a donation to attend, but it’s not required.
